Sasmita Das, a beacon of inspiration and a tireless advocate for women’s rights, youth empowerment, and farmers, emerges from a background rooted in a village school. Her educational journey took its roots at SVM College in Jagatsinghpur, where she laid the foundation for her academic pursuits. Sasmita continued her quest for knowledge at SB Women’s College in Cuttack, graduating with distinction and setting the stage for her impactful career.
Her academic pursuits reached new heights as she pursued her postgraduate studies at Utkal University Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar, underscoring her commitment to education and intellectual growth. This solid educational foundation laid the groundwork for Sasmita’s subsequent endeavors as a changemaker in society.


Sasmita Das, a prolific author, has contributed significantly to the literary world with seven published works, comprising three novels, two poetry collections, and two storybooks. Her writings not only showcase her literary prowess but also reflect a deep understanding of societal issues, particularly those affecting women, youth, and farmers.
In addition to her literary contributions, Sasmita is actively engaged with various organizations dedicated to promoting women’s rights, youth development, and agricultural issues. Her impactful work has garnered recognition in the form of numerous awards from different organizations and associations, acknowledging her valuable contributions to literature, culture, and social change.
Currently serving as the State Secretary of Biju Mahila Janata Dal, Sasmita Das has become a pivotal figure in regional politics. In this role, she channels her passion for social change into practical initiatives, advocating for the rights of women and youth. Sasmita’s commitment goes beyond policy advocacy; she actively motivates and encourages individuals, particularly women and youth, regarding financial development, education, health, and career guidance.
Adding to her diverse portfolio, Sasmita serves as the editor of the literary magazine “NEELAKAIN,” a publication based in Bhubaneswar with a rich history spanning 16 years. Her editorial role showcases not only her literary acumen but also her dedication to fostering a vibrant cultural and intellectual community.
With an impressive 11-year tenure working actively for the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Sasmita Das has demonstrated unwavering honesty and hard work in her pursuit of positive change.
